I've watched Isang Tanong last Sunday and I'm happy that I did. Kudos to GMA for having a show like that to serve as awakeners for voters who are still in the dark as to the names they'll be writing down their ballots. I for one benefited from the show--helped me add a few to my [short]list.

Election day is fast approaching, and I find myself a bit excited to know what the results would be like. Compared to the previous elections, I think the voters now are, well, should I say, more intelligent. In fact, I was able to hear that same comment from Unang Hirit during one bus ride to work, and I found myself agreeing. Maybe those people who were apathetic before finally realized that if they still don't act (vote at the least), change won't happen. And we badly need it. Not tomorrow, but NOW.
------------
I've received a mail from one of my egroups that a certain Dr. Matin Bautista is running for senator. I first thought, hmmm, a newbie. And there was a link in the message to his blog, so I got curious and I visited his page. After reading a bit of his thoughts, I decided that this man is one person I would love to see in the senate. I just thought that it's either those written there were sincere thoughts of his, or he's just one great writer. I chose to believe he's for real, and for that I am campaigning for him, even if I don't know him!
There's another newbie in the senatoriables that was added to my list thanks to Isang Tanong: Zosimo Paredes. I don't know him either, but I sensed from his answer that he would be a good leader, having Christ as his "driver". Hearing his answer really gave me the goosebumps. There is hope for the Philippines.
Those two senatoriables I believe are from the Kapatiran Party, another which I'm not familiar of. All I know is that they are much apart from the traditional parties that we have. I also know they have another one running for senator, I just don't know his name.

I believe it is because of continued frustration both in the government and the opposition that new people with uncorrupted principles step up. And I thank God for giving us those people who are willing to do the first move. I hate to sound like a fan of the three, or the Kapatiran Party for that matter, but I think they can start the change. I remember writing down in my previous posts that what our country needs is a serious moral overhaul. I still do. I know for sure it won't happen in a flash, but I pray that it happens now.

It makes me sick to hear people giving up on our country, that there's no more hope for our situation to change and that we should just migrate and find better life elsewhere. I believe everyone can start a change, but of course it would have to be a group effort. We all can do something even if we think we can't. We can pray.
And I do hope all of us would be doing that for the coming elections, and for the rest of the times as well. May we all love our country. After all, who else would we expect to love it but us?
